About the work
Passion drove me. Persistence brought success. I love many aspects of arts and culture. My topics reflect that: literature, theater, travel, artist profiles, societal critques and fiction. Some of these pieces are personal favorites that demonstrate growth. Others mark access, influence, and perspective. All told, each represent an experience to be counted and explored in print. In each I tried to capture the moment. To do so, I drew on prior knowledge and experience.
Playing with various techniques and styles doing both story arcs through short fiction and character development through interviews and profiles at a weekly paper I gained enough journalism experience to confidently write copy on various topics to pique the interests of various upscale, college educated, arts interested, actively global citizens who are hip to aspects of popular and classic culture. That my lens is African-American is key to the subject matter, tone and cadences of the works displayed.
